Hemingway's Caribbean Cafe & Restaurant

Perched on the first floor of a traditional green and white wooden building overlooking St. Mary's Street and Redcliffe Quay in the heart of St. John's, this beloved dining spot occupies a structure dating to the early 1800s — once a well-known hotel called Jardine's. The cool verandah terrace, shaded and open to the street below, makes it an ideal place to linger over a meal or cocktail while exploring Antigua's capital.

Lunch

The daytime menu offers a relaxed selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and island seafood specialties, including local lobster. The atmosphere is lively and informal, ideally suited to a break from shopping at the nearby Redcliffe Quay boutiques or a catch-up before heading to the harbour.

Dinner

In the evening the kitchen turns its attention to the best Creole cuisine, fresh Caribbean seafood dishes and choice US steaks, supported by daily dinner specials and an excellent wine list. The veranda takes on a wonderfully romantic character as the sun goes down, with warm lighting and the sounds of St. John's drifting up from the street.

Rum collection and tropical drinks

Hemingway's is home to what is widely regarded as the most extensive and exotic Caribbean rum collection in Antigua. The cocktail list is equally impressive, featuring tropical thirst-quenchers such as the signature Hemingway's Fruit Punch and the Pineapple Daiquiri, made with local pineapples and rum — a genuine taste of the island in a glass.
