Copper and Lumber Store Historic Inn
About This Restaurant
Few dining settings in Antigua can match the atmosphere found inside this beautifully preserved Georgian building at the centre of Nelson's Dockyard. Originally constructed in 1783 to store copper and lumber for ship building and maintenance, the structure was sensitively converted from 1982 into what is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Georgian British architecture in the Caribbean — and today its character makes an extraordinary backdrop for a meal or a drink.
The hotel is home to two bars and restaurants, offering guests and day visitors alike the chance to dine surrounded by weathered brickwork, hand-hewn beams and mellow brass fittings. The intimate scale of the courtyard — decorated with lush palms and tropical plants — lends a wonderfully relaxed, almost timeless ambience to the dining experience. Whether arriving after a morning on the water or winding down after an afternoon exploring the Dockyard, the setting is ideally suited to a leisurely, unhurried meal.
The broader location within Nelson's Dockyard further enriches any visit: the Dockyard's historic quaysides, working marinas and surrounding hills provide a picturesque context that is unique to English Harbour. The area is particularly vibrant during Antigua Sailing Week and the April Regattas, when the Dockyard fills with yachts and sailors from across the Eastern Caribbean and the inn's dining spaces become an ideal gathering point.
For enquiries about dining hours, reservations or group bookings, contact the inn directly by phone at +1 (268) 460-1058 or by email at info@copperandlumberhotel.com. Reservations are advisable, particularly during peak season and regatta periods.
